Let's take a step back in time and see who previously occupied the above Delta strip mall property at the corner of Scott Road and 64th Avenue.
The Delta Archives photo below from the 1930s shows it was the Allen family home, located at 6435-120th St. (Scott Road).
John McKee Allen with his twin brother Hugh first came from Ireland to Delta in 1887.
Their maternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. John McKee, who settled in Delta years earlier.
John McKee Allen married Eyda Josephine Swanson in 1902 and they had seven children.
For a time, John worked at his uncle William McKee's Ladner butcher shop and with his wife at the Guichon Hotel. He later worked for the Corporation of Delta.
Also farming in Delta, they eventually moved to Scott Road.
The house was sold in 1977 to make way for the shopping mall development.
