Years before the opening of the Deas Island Tunnel there was another way to get out of South Delta in addition to the ferry service.

White Star Motor Line had a fleet of coaches operating from Ladner to Vancouver.

The coaches were also known as jitneys. The service from Ladner to Vancouver began in 1918. White Star was absorbed by the B.C. Rapid Transit Company Ltd. in 1926, which itself would join Pacific Stage Lines immediately following the Second World War.
