Delta throwback: Ron Toigo

The Royal Oaks multi-unit development was approved but much bigger projects would be on the horizon

Let’s head back to the early 1990’s to check out developer Ron Toigo with his proposed Royal Oaks housing project in Tsawwassen.

The school district had sold the property, once home to Boundary Bay elementary, to the private developer who would go on to build condominiums there.

The Toigo family business empire spans restaurants and other interests including a string of real estate properties, including Tsawwassen Springs.

The Delta Town & Country Inn in Ladner, owned by the Toigos since the early 1980s, was demolished to make way for the new casino/hotel complex. Toigo is leasing the site and not directly involved in the hotel or casino.

Earlier this summer, Ron Toigo made a presentation to city council to discuss his plan to develop a final parcel of a Tsawwassen residential subdivision.

A long-time Tsawwassen resident and philanthropist, he also owns the Vancouver Giants, which has its training facility at the Ladner Leisure Centre. He’s a member of the Delta Sports Hall of Fame.
