Campaign has raised over $36,000 for the B.C. Cancer Foundation since being launched in 2019

Six restaurants in Ladner and Tsawwassen are participating in this year's pancreatic cancer fundraiser.

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month and for the fourth straight year six local restaurants are stepping up to help fundraise for the BC Cancer Foundation.

The Ladner and Tsawwassen locations of McDonalds and Chopped Leaf, along with the Ladner Dairy Queen and Tsawwassen White Spot, will each be donating a percentage of total sales on their designated day to the foundation in support of pancreatic cancer research and care.

The initiative was launched in 2019 in honour of Ladner resident and Delta firefighter Thomas Haydon who lost his battle to Pancreatic Neuroendocrine cancer in 2018 at the age of 36. Earlier this year, the City of Delta unveiled a tribute to Haydon inside the Ladner Leisure Centre where he spent much of his life playing and coaching lacrosse, including being the first-ever captain of the Delta Junior “A” Islanders.

So far the campaign has raised over $36,000 including a record $16,076.19 in 2021.

To support this terrific cause take note of the designated days for each of the participating restaurants:

Thursday, Nov. 17: Ladner and Tsawwassen McDonalds, 10 percent of all sales.

Friday, Nov. 18: Ladner Dairy Queen, 10 percent of all sales.

Saturday, Nov. 19: Tsawwassen White Spot, 10 percent of all sales, including take out.

Sunday, Nov. 20: Ladner and Tsawwassen Chopped Leaf, 10 percent of all sales.

Starting Thursday (Nov. 10) until Nov. 18, a special edition fireman ice cream cake will be available at the Ladner Dairy Queen with 50 percent of each sale being donated to the foundation. As well, each location will be selling purple ribbons for $5 that will also go directly to the final total.
