Organic growers Isabelle Rodé, Caitlin Sousa and Casey Haney are working with local families to create thriving food gardens where they live.

There was so much interest in Don't Mow, Grow - from Vancouver to Surrey to North Delta - that the society plans to expand the program to more homes next year.

The Earthwise Garden in Boundary Bay has led the way for Don't Mow, Grow this spring by transforming some of its central lawn area into a colourful and edible "Lettuce Lawn" growing organic arugula, tatsoi, mustards and lettuces. The society has also underplanted its orchards with leafy greens.

These early crops are being harvested for sale at the Earthwise Farm Store, which is open Wednesdays and Saturdays.
