For more than 21 years, students at Delta Secondary have held the 20 Days of Giving Campaign to collect food items, pet food, toiletries, gift cards and cash donations to create hampers for local families in need to help them enjoy the festive season.

Members of the school’s Interact Club also collected donations at Save On Foods in Ladner on Dec. 5.

This year’s campaign, which ran from Nov. 20 until Dec. 15, raised an incredible $11,000 and will help make the holiday season a memorable time for 29 local families.

Organizers of the initiative, educators Ms. Blatz, Mr. Harkley and Ms. Collings said: “It is incredible to see our students and local community work together to help those in need in our community. The 20 Days of Giving Campaign is a highlight of our school year. The old adage ‘It’s better to give than receive’ certainly rings true with this campaign. Thank to you everyone who was involved in this year’s initiative – those who donated, those who collected and those who put together the wonderful hampers. We wish everyone in our community a wonderful holiday season.”
