The Delta Hospice Society feels fortunate to be the recipients of $1,289 from the South Delta Midget AAA Storm hockey team. The team had money remaining in its account at the end of the season and decided it would like to give it back to our community.

"This is so generous and meaningful to the society," said executive director Nancy Macey. "Hockey is such a part of the fabric of South Delta and for the team to make a choice to give their team funds to Delta Hospice says a lot about all the boys on this team.

"Many girls and boys are impacted by serious illness and loss in their families and donations like this help to sustain the services of Delta Hospice that are available to these youth. A big thank you to everyone involved in making this decision."

Team manager Petra Keen said it was a pleasure to donate the money to such an important organization.

"We are very fortunate to have the Delta Hospice Society in our community and all donations contributed will go directly to the patients in need," she said.

Some of the players have been involved in other fundraising initiatives, including in 2010 when all players on the Bantam A2 team shaved their heads in the B.C. Children's Hospital's Balding for Dollars campaign.
