A gala event set for Saturday will benefit two charities.
Ladner's Robyn Thomson is in training because in August she will climb Mount Kilimanjaro in an effort to raise $10,000 for Delta Hospice. She will be joined by friend Alison Hogg, who is doing the climb to benefit the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
To help in reaching their fundraising goals, the two women are planning The Kili Gala. The event is scheduled for June 5 at the Ladner Community Centre from 7 p.m. until midnight.
The gala will feature African drumming, a DJ and dancing, as well as 50/50 and raffle draws, and refreshments.
Tickets for The Kili Gala cost $20, which covers admission and two raffle tickets. All of the net proceeds from the event will go directly to the Delta Hospice Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Tickets can be purchased by e-mailing Thomson at [email protected] or at Open Space Yoga and Evolutions Salon.
Both Thomson and Hogg have set up websites to chronicle their adventures.
