Local pilot gets women involved in aviation

Tsawwassen's Mireille Goyer is the founder and president of the Institute for Women Of Aviation Worldwide, the group behind the initiative.

The group estimates 3,000 Canadian girls and women will be introduced to aviation during the week and interact with women involved in space exploration, including former NASA astronaut Pam Melroy on Saturday, March 9.

"We wanted to give girls and women a chance to have their unique questions answered as we celebrate 50 years of women in space," Goyer said in a press release.

The question and answer session will be broadcast online from 6 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m.
