George Mackie Library is offering a number of programs in the coming weeks.

Would you like to learn how to argue and win?

Have fun sharpening your skills at Teen: Speed Debating on Monday, March 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the George Mackie Library in North Delta.

Practice with some lighthearted topics like hot chocolate with or without marshmallows, smartphone versus no phone, peanut butter cup or mars bar, and more. Join us for an introduction to debating, including pointers on public speaking. Learn the principles of sound arguments, a skill that can come in handy in many different situations.

It's Peep-A-Palooza at the Ladner Pioneer Library. Create a scene from a book, movie, or fandom using sugary Peeps! You provide a shoe box and we will provide the Peeps. Pick up supplies begins on Monday, March 20. Completed Peep-O-Ramas will be placed on exhibit at the library for everyone to enjoy and vote for their favourite from Friday, March 31 to Saturday, April 8. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Teens are invited to Coffee with Cops on Thursday, March 23, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the George Mackie Library. Coffee with Cops brings police officers and the community members they serve together – over coffee – to discuss issues and learn more about each other. Youth can speak with police officers or members of the community policing team to get advice, find out more about local community policing or raise any concerns informally or formally.

There is a Teen Create Zone at the Ladner Pioneer Library on the last Thursday of the month. Enjoy a safe place to be creative! Register for the Thursday, March 30 session from 3:15 to 4 p.m. Work alone or work with others, it's up to you. Some art supplies and board games provided for use at the library. Ages 12-plus.
