STAY FOCUSED

"He shoots... he scores!" Even if you're not a fan, you will have heard by now that our beloved Canucks have ended their run to the Stanley Cup.

Many of us watched with pounding hearts the fifth game with the Kings and know that none of us could have worked any harder than those fellows who were on the ice that night.

One of the key elements of a great hockey game is driving the puck to the net and staying focused on that one goal. This is the same for any sport, for any project, and also for our life.

During these past several weeks we have been focused on the life and work of Jesus. We have followed him as he journeyed to the cross, and we have celebrated as we have come to know of his rising to life again in resurrection.

Throughout all of these Easter lessons comes the theme: stay focused. But you and I know it's hard to stay focused when life's demands are bearing down on us - waiting to trip us up or to take us out of play.

We, like those early followers of Jesus, are bombarded with images and ideas that take our focus away from the work at hand. What is that work? What does the Lord require of us? "... to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God..."

So let's stay focused because you and I are still in the game.
