North Delta students awarded prestigious scholarships

North Delta Secondary’s Zeenat Rostainajad (pictured) and Seaquam Secondary’s Nathan Manke have each received a $40,000 post-secondary scholarship from The Cmolik Foundation in recognition of their achievements in overcoming adversity and excelling in their studies.

A pair of North Delta high school students have been awarded prestigious scholarships.

North Delta Secondary’s Zeenat Rostainajad and Seaquam Secondary’s Nathan Manke have each received a $40,000 post-secondary scholarship from The Cmolik Foundation in recognition of their achievements in overcoming adversity and excelling in their studies.

According to a news release, the Foundation’s selection committee was impressed with Rostainajad’s application, her academic goals, and her future career aspirations. The award recognizes and honours Rostainajad’s hard work and commitment with this financial award and is keen to support Rostainajad plans to obtain a degree in psychology and later to pursue a Master’s in Art Therapy.

She has applied to Douglas College for Associated Arts and plans to transfer to SFU to complete her degree.

“Zeenat impressed me greatly with her passion for making a positive difference within her school community, showing kindness, respect, and empathy towards her peers,” said child and youth care worker Ikjot Sandhu. “There is no doubt in my mind that Zeenat will succeed in whatever path she chooses to take, she is a motivated and hardworking student.”

The selection committee was also highly impressed with Manke’s work as well. He will be pursuing a degree in computer science and music.

“Ten years from now, I envision that I am working with a team of people to program and develop a video game project, as well as the music for it,” he said. “Video games and music have brought me happiness that I will bring to others.”

The Cmolik Foundation believes in the power of education to transform a student’s life journey. In addition to providing students with the funding to realize their dreams, the Foundation provides students with a mentor, a supportive community of scholarship peers and alumni, as well as access to ongoing special events and professional opportunities.

The Cmolik Foundation was founded in 2008.
