Noted economist to address next Probus Club meeting

The South Delta Probus Club is tackling finances and politics at next week's monthly meeting.

Set for Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Benediction Lutheran Church, the meeting will hear from Helmut Pastrick, chief economist for Central Credit Union 1, the central financial facility and trade association for the B.C. and Ontario credit union systems. He will discuss the results of the Oct. 19 federal election and the financial position of the party in power.

Prior to joining the Central 1 Credit Union in 1997, Pastrick spent many years with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation analyzing and forecasting the housing market and economy.

Pastrick is a former president of the Association of Professional Economists of B.C., a member of the Canadian Association for Business Economics and the B.C. Economic Forecast Council.

Probus is a worldwide association of active retirees. South Delta Probus offers its members the opportunity to learn from speakers on key issues.
