A new series of public outdoor fitness stations have caught the eye of area residents around the Marina Gardens development.

Woodward Landing resident Chris Offer shared a number of photos this week on the Ladner’s Landing Facebook page.

He said the fitness stations have been installed along the path at Capt. Cove Marina, beside the Deas Slough trial at the north end of Ferry Road.

“A spectacular place to exercise, even on a grey day,” Offer wrote.

The Optimist reached out to the City of Delta for more on the initiative.

Linda Nielsen, park planner with the City of Delta said the linear park is part of the Marina Gardens development currently being constructed to the south of the park.

“As part of the development commitment, they are required to construct a linear park complete with exercise equipment, a natural playground, seating areas, plaza space and a couple of look outs over the water,” said Nielsen. “This trail ties into the Millennium Trail, which connects with Deas Island. When the park is complete it will be turned over to Delta as a permanent city asset. Until that point it belongs to Marina Gardens.”
