Star Wars music enthusiasts can enjoy a performance this weekend in Richmond with music from John Williams, the iconic movie soundtrack composer.

The theme at the Richmond Chorus and Orchestra Association’s (ROCA) concert at Fraserview MB Church is “May the Fourth Be With You” – on Saturday, May 4.

In addition to Star Wars-themed music, Brahms’ Violin Concerto will be performed by guest soloist Richmondite Isabel Lago, alongside the orchestra.

“We may start out in a galaxy far, far away, but the music of Brahms will ground us back down on earth,” said ROCA in its press release. “His violin concerto is arguably one of the greatest concertos for violin ever composed.”

Lago first started playing the violin just before her third birthday. She has performed with the Fraser Valley Orchestra as well as the Richmond Orchestra.

She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Leipzig, Germany.

Tickets at the door, that weren’t previously reserved, are $25. Tickets bought via Eventbrite, email or phone are $23 for adults, $20 for seniors and students and $15 for six or more tickets. Children 16 and younger are free with a paid ticket.

To reserve tickets, email [email protected] or call 604-276-2747; if you leave a message, say how many and what type of tickets you want. ROCA asks that you leave your name clearly in the message.

The community partner for this concert will be Chimo Community Services.

The concert will be held at Fraserview MB Church, 11295 Mellis Dr., at 7:30 p.m.
