It began as an event to work around COVID-19 restrictions. Now it’s back and poised to be a fixture on the Canada Day schedule.
The South Delta Classic Cars group will be out on the streets of Tsawwassen and Ladner for its Canada Day Cruise. The inaugural drive was such a big hit a year ago that it was an easy decision to keep it going.
“We had 150 cars last year because there was nothing to do at the time,” explained South Delta Classic Cars member Greg Fahlman. “Now we have expanded it even further with cars and a coffee meet and greet (starting at 8 a.m.) before the cruise.”
The approximate 90-minute cruise will commence outside the A&W at Tsawwassen Commons then loop through Tsawwassen and Ladner before concluding back at the Commons. A wide variety of cars are expected to participate from classic, to customized and hot rods.
To catch the Canada Day Cruise here are the estimated times of the route through South Delta:
* 10 a.m. Leave Tsawwassen Commons A&W and head south on 52nd St. to 12th Ave.
* 10:05-10:10 a.m. – 12th Ave; between 52nd St. and English Bluff Rd.
* 10:10-10:20 a.m. – Stahaken/Pacific Drive to Wesley, turning south on English Bluff Rd.
* 10:15-10:25 a.m. – Between Wesley and 1st Ave. on English Bluff
* 10:20-10:30 a.m. – between English Bluff Rd. and 56th St on 1st Ave. – likely waiting across from Diefenbaker Park.
* 10:30-10:35 a.m. – between 1st Ave. and 4th Ave./Southlands Drive on 56th St.
* 10:35-10:45 a.m. – in/around the Southlands/Red Barn area, exiting onto Boundary Bay Road
* 10:40-10:45 a.m. – driving Northwest on Boundary Bay Road to Beach Grove Road
* 10:40-10:45 a.m. – North on Beach Grove Road between 12th Ave. and 16th Ave.
* 10:42-10:45 a.m. – West on 16th Ave. to 56th St.
* 10:45-10:55 a.m. – North on 56th and Arthur Drive to 44th Ave turning right
* 10:50- 10:55 a.m. – 44th Ave. eastbound and around Delta Hospital on Clarence Taylor Way
* 10:55-11 a.m. – Harvest Drive, turning west onto Ladner Trunk Road, past McDonalds
* 11-11:05 a.m. – Ladner Trunk Road heading west between Harvest Drive and Arthur Drive past DQ
* 11:05-11:10 a.m. – west on 47A Ave; past the Delta Optimist office to 46A St.
* 11:07-11:10 a.m. – south on 46A St. between 47A Ave. and 45th Ave; left on 45th Ave.
* 11:10-11:15 a.m. – east on 45th Ave. between 46A St. and Arthur Drive.
* 11:15-11:30 a.m. – south on Arthur Drive, via 28th Ave; then 52nd St. and Fisherman Way to A&W.
