Let’s go back in time to 1900 and check out the Ladner Tug-of-War Team, the British Columbia champions that year.

The team consisted of T. Patterson, P. Shirley, W. Black, J. Grant, J. Milligan, C. Kettles, J.H. Watson and S. Huff.

Interestingly, the sport was part of the Olympic Games from 1900 until 1920, but hasn’t been played in the Games since.

The sport was pulled from the Olympics after a series of heated controveries.

Canada never fielded an entry in Olympic tug-of-war.

The Canadian Tug Of War Association is the governing body for the sport in this country.

It’s a member of the Tug Of War International Federation, which is a recognized sports federation by International Olympic Committee.

However, don’t count on the sport getting back in the Games.
