The TOOB (Tsawwassen Order of Old Bastards) recently donated $3,000 to support the Canadian Clubfoot Support Society and its launch of www.clubfoot.ca in celebration of World Clubfoot Day, which was marked on June. 3.
The Canadian Clubfoot Support Society is a newly established registered charity whose mission is to ensure that every child born with clubfoot in Canada has access to treatment that follows best practice. One in 1,000 children are born with clubfoot, making it one of the most common birth defects.
Locally in South Delta, the society has been busy since August 2021 advocating for families in the Fraser Health Authority, when access to pediatric orthopedic care was in jeopardy of being lost. After collaboration with South Delta MLA Ian Paton and appearing in the Optimist, the Society was pleased to announce in May that a new surgeon had been hired to take over the retiring physician’s practice.
The Society will continue to have a strong presence in South Delta as it strives to provide families with accurate information, guidance, and advocacy during their clubfoot journey. The Society wishes to thank the TOOB for supporting local community members and their volunteer efforts.
