An additional 50 Delta children will have the financial ability to play a registered sport this fall thanks to a huge donation from the annual Beach Grove Golf Club Ladies Tournament.
This year’s annual fundraiser event raised $15,000 for KidSport Delta — the organization that provides annual grants to help local families with the financial barrier of putting their children into organized sports.
“The women membership of Beach Grove Golf Club has a long-standing tradition to hold a member and guest event with the goal of raising needed funds for a local charity and community groups. We were so pleased to be their charity of choice for this year’s tournament,” said KidSport Delta chair Carlene Lewall.
“Support from members and event sponsors was gratifying but not surprising as the club has a long history of contributing to the Tsawwassen community,” added Michelle Mason, chair of the tournament.
KidSport Delta is pleased to see the full return of the participation in sport after these two seasons of restrictions.
Since January, KidSport Delta has given 106 children the opportunity to play sport by providing over $30,000 in grants. This would not be possible without the generous donations from individuals, sponsors and organizations such as the Beach Grove Golf Club.
“Sport gives children so much more than physical activity and just playing the game. The life skills of teamwork, dedication, time management, sportsmanship and meeting new friends are some of the many benefits. KidSport Delta is pleased to be able to take away the financial barrier to all children have the opportunity to participate,” added Lewall.
