Tsawwassen highland dancer Callie Fraissange, 10, is representing B.C. at the ScotDance Canada Championship Series this week.

She'll be competing against 10-and 11-year-old provincial representatives from across the country at the Richmond Oval. The event runs from today until Sunday.

"I'm excited. I went last year, it was a lot of fun," she said last week.

Fraissange danced at the Canadian championships last year in Montreal and finished sixth.

Fraissange will perform about 16 dances at this week's competition.

She qualified for this event after a top-three effort in May at the provincials in Port Moody. Fraissange, who studies with teacher Elizabeth Johnston, has been highland dancing for about five years.

Michelle McPeek, Fraissange's mom, said she's very proud of her daughter.
