Dr. John W. Martens of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, will be speaking at South Delta Baptist Church tonight.
At 7 p.m. in the chapel of the Tsawwassen church, Dr. Martens will discuss an approach to studying the Bible to increase our understanding and learning through his most recent commentary on The Gospel of Mark that will engage and further your own study.
This is the first New Testament commentary to be published by local publisher Jim Martens/
Red Maple Press. It was one of three finalists last June in The Word Awards in the Biblical Studies category.
The evening has been structured as an informal dessert night coupled with some great conversation and teaching. There is no cost for the event or the desserts.
The book is written for lay people and has been described as one of the most creative and innovative books on the Gospel in recent years.
Dr. Martens will also be speaking at The House of James in Abbotsford next week.
