Studio West Dance will produce its second summer musical, Disney's Aladdin, tomorrow and Sunday. Show times are 3 and 5 p.m. tomorrow and 4 and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

After the success of last year's production of Aristocats, two extra shows have been added to feature double casts.

"We had so many talented kids and not enough parts so we decided we needed to add two shows and have two different groups of kids," explains choreographer and director Jyla Davis.

"This year's show calls for way more special effects than last year's because it's filled with magic," says musical director

and director Tracy Neff. "It's only a 30-minute production but it involves a genie in a bottle, two people flying around the world on a magic carpet and a cave of wonder - it is jam packed!" Another new addition to this year's production is the help of local costume designer Julie White.

"We try to keep the costumes and sets minimal but we both love Julie's work and knew that she would bring the aesthetic of our production to a new level," Neff says. Davis and Neff have been directing, choreographing, producing, performing, singing and acting nationally and internationally for over 20 years and both have a passion

for creating performance opportunities for young Delta performers.

"Tracy and I both had mentors and teachers in this community who worked hard to create experiences for us and we both want to pay it forward," Davis explains.

Studio West has become a force in the Delta community (voted #1 dance studio in the Delta Optimist 2014 Readers' Choice Awards) and in the dance competition world. Neff continues to perform around the Lower Mainland while working with young singers at the Delta Community Music School and teaching drama at South Delta Secondary beginning this fall.

With classic Disney songs such as, A Whole New World and Friend Like Me, and hilarious stand up comedy from a blue Genie, this show will add magic to your summer.

Aladdin will take place at Delta Secondary in what has been coined the "guitar room." It is a one-act kids show that runs approximately 30 minutes and is based on the 1992 Disney film. Tickets are $10 can be purchased at the door. The entrance to the show is on the southwest side of Delta Secondary School near the track.

Performances take place Saturday, Aug.

16 (3 and 5 p.m.) and Sunday, Aug. 17 (4 and 5 p.m.).
