South Delta Jazz Festival and Workshop is coming to town.

Once again, the Delta Community Music School opens its doors to musicians from ages 12 to adult, beginners to experienced, for a week of jazz instruction as well as public concerts featuring the music of jazz camp faculty and students.

Playing music in small groups and learning repertoire and improvisation is the focus of the week. Each day begins at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 4:30 p.m., with luncheon concerts daily, for both students and public.

There will be an evening concert on Friday, July 7 featuring all of the workshop faculty and compositions by Jared Burrows and other faculty members.

There will be an afternoon performance on Saturday, July 8 by all of the workshop participants.

The music school is welcoming the return of Jennifer Scott (voice and piano) and Ron Samworth (guitar) to its full-time faculty for this year's festival. Burrows will also return along with the regular faculty of Len Aruliah, Rob Kohler, Kevin Lee, Brad Muirhead, Stephen Robb and Stan Taylor.

For a complete listing of concerts, check out www.southdeltajazzfestival.com.

The camp runs July 4 to 8 in the heritage McKee House, 4705 Arthur Dr. Concerts will be held in the adjoining green space and at Diefenbaker Park.

Early bird registration for the camp saves $50 and closes on May 31. Registration stays open until the first day of camp.
