Would you like to learn more about what you can do to contribute towards a healthier and more sustainable community? Next week, Earthwise Society will welcome new and returning volunteers as it kicks off the spring growing season with a pair of events.

For those who enjoy getting their hands dirty growing food and gardening, Earthwise will be hosting a volunteer work and learn session on Monday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. New and returning volunteers are welcome to join in this hands-on work party aimed at individuals who want to learn more about gardening.

Participants will spend the morning honing their gardening skills while learning about volunteer opportunities at Earthwise. The work and learn event will wrap up with a discussion session and some light refreshments.

Those who would like an overview of the many different volunteer opportunities available at Earthwise are invited to a volunteer orientation tea on Wednesday, April 17 from 7 to 8 p.m. New and returning volunteers will mix, mingle and chat about volunteering and Earthwise Society’s newest programs over a cup of tea.

It is a chance to learn how you can get in touch with nature while giving back to the community and meeting others with similar interests.

Volunteering at Earthwise Society is not just for those who have a green thumb. Earthwise focuses on a wide range of community sustainability issues, including environmental awareness and education, food security and mental health.

To register for the events, contact Earthwise at [email protected] or 604-946-9828. The Earthwise Garden is located at 6400-3rd Ave. in Boundary Bay.
