Go for a run and afterwards celebrate with some great local beer at the third annual Winded 5km run for charity presented by Four Winds.

Winded is set for Sunday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. The run starts at Centennial Beach and the route takes participants along area trails before finishing at Cammidge House in Boundary Bay Regional Park for the post-race barbecue.

“We decided we wanted to do an event first that would benefit the community and the people within the community, so Deltassist is such a great organization and has so many programs that help youth, seniors, so it was a good fit for us,” said Adam Mills, sales and marketing director for Four Winds. “It’s a fun event with a real positive vibe of getting the community together.”

Colleen Danes, community services coordinator with Deltassist, said the social services agency is thrilled to be working with Four Winds again.

“They are amazing to work with. It’s a great community, family event,” said Danes. “To see great community support as well from other sponsors is fantastic. It’s not a serious run, it’s just lighthearted and all about community. I look forward to it every year.”

Other event sponsors include Newmans Fine Foods, Muscle Memory, the Run Inn, Glenmore custom paint + packaging and Century Group.

“For us too, we love the idea of working in the community and helping out the community, but also it’s not lost on us that we manufacture beer, so promoting that balanced lifestyle and the healthy aspect of going for the run and then enjoying responsibly afterwards is something we want to continue to emphasize,” added Mills.

Day of registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Pre-race package pick-up will take place on Thursday and Friday prior the event at the Run Inn in Tsawwassen. Entry fee is $50, which includes a Winded water bottle and a Winded tote bag with goodies from the event sponsors as well as two Four Winds post-race beers (or non-alcoholic drinks) and a barbecue lunch.

On top of awarding prizes to the top finishers, Four Winds will also be offering a prize to the runner who raises the most money with all proceeds going to Deltassist Family and Community Services.

Online registration is available at raceroster.com (search Winded 2019).

For those who don’t want to run, but want to support, there is a $10 entry, which gets you one beer and one barbecue ticket. Kids under 19 are free. Everyone is welcome to attend the post-race event, which will start around 11 a.m. and run to 4 p.m.
