The South Delta Artists Guild's annual Oil Water show returns next week.
Oil Water, an open and international competition, has an opening reception Thursday, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nancy Dean, president of the South Delta Artists Guild, is pleased that the community has once again shown their support for this show.
"Oil Water is an important show for our members, who often save their best work to enter in the competition," she says. "It also attracts many other artists from across the Lower Mainland who are drawn by the calibre of the show and the generous prizes offered by our community sponsors."
She hopes that the public will make a point of dropping by to see it and adds that a visit to the gallery is a nice activity for out-oftown guests.
Over 90 paintings will be on display at Gallery 1710 in Tsawwassen. There is $3,000 in prizes to be won, including a Best in Show $1,000 grand prize sponsored by Century Group, and over a dozen other prizes donated by local businesses and sponsors.
The generosity of many local businesses enables many artists to be recognized for the excellence of their art. The guild is extremely grateful for their help and support. The guild is also grateful to business sponsors, which have provided door prizes, food supplies and other services.
Highly respected artist Faith Love- Robertson, a long-time member and a past president of South Delta Artists Guild, started Oil Water.
The 12th annual Oil Water juried art exhibit runs July 30 to Aug. 22 at Gallery 1710. The gallery is located at 1710-56th St., Tsawwassen, beside the South Delta Recreation Centre.
All of the paintings are for sale. The gallery has extended hours Tuesday-Sunday 11 a.m. -4 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. -8:30 p.m. For more information visit www.southdeltaartistsguild. com.
