Make your next 100 days count

U.S. President Donald Trump recently completed his first 100 days in office. It is viewed as an indication of what the rest of the presidency will look like. We were deluged with reports tracking how many executive orders were signed and what legislation was or wasn't passed. There was a frantic effort to get points on the board before the buzzer. It was a favourite topic for late night comedy, and opinions about what was accomplished ranged from prolific to pathetic.

The first 100 days of the presidency is an interesting phenomenon. It isn't really that long - yet it is. One hundred days from today is Aug. 20. What are you going to do with your next 100 days? What skills could you improve? What books could you read? What relationships could you enhance? What great goals could you dream and accomplish between now and Aug. 20? Where does God fit into your plans for the next 100 days? What if your next 100 days changed or defined what the rest of your life would look like? In Psalm 90:4-7, King David prayed: "Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered - how fleeting my life is.

You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath. We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it. And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you." Let's think about it and make the next 100 days count.
