Minister's Minute

Scripture states, Lamentations 3:19-20, “The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words.  I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss.”

Jeremiah was depressed. But instead of basking in his depression, he began to turn his thoughts toward the goodness of God. He became thankful. Even though he couldn’t see God’s goodness at the moment. Thankfulness and hope changed his life.

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.” (Lamentations 3:22-25)

God can take a mess if you put your hope in Him and turn it into a miracle. His promise to you and me is that “those who hope in Him will not be disappointed.” (Isaiah 49:23) Even greater things are to come. God is able to turn things around completely. He will do more than merely bring you out of your emotional bondage. He can even cause you to forget how deep it ever was and turn your hurts into your ministry where you can in return help others.

I know your hopelessness may seem overwhelming and you may even wonder how you could ever overcome it, but if you will do as Abraham did, who hoped when he had none at all… “In hope against all hope he believed,” (Romans 4:18) God will honour your trust. He can turn your emotional pain into victorious gain.
