Neal McDonough to talk faith in Hollywood at Tsawwassen breakfast

Faith and Hollywood are two things generally not associated with each other, but on Saturday, April 13 the Men’s Breakfast at South Delta Baptist Church will hear about the topics and how they relate to our lives.

The 8 a.m. event will feature actor and Tsawwassen resident Neal McDonough, who has a powerful story to share.

McDonough has starred in numerous movie and television productions, including Captain America, Arrow, Suits and his most recent role in Project Blue Book.

Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, he grew up the son of Irish immigrants.

A baseball player through high school, he accepted a scholarship to Syracuse University where he not only played baseball, but also developed his skills in fine arts. At the beginning of his career, he won parts in many television and films, including Band of Brothers, Star Trek: First Contact and Minority Report.

In 2000, while filming Band of Brothers in London, he met his wife, Ruvé.

In 2015, the McDonoughs moved from Los Angeles to Tsawwassen and, along with their five children, have become part of the community.

Part of McDonough’s story is his faith journey and the implications of it on his work.

People in the industry began to believe he was a religious zealot, which likely cost him some work. He was fired from the ABC show Scoundrels for refusing to do a sex scene.

Clearly this has not had a significant impact on his career.

The McDonoughs are pleased to be a part of South Delta where they are involved in church, school and the community. If you were to ask him about his priorities in life, he’ll emphatically say it’s “faith and family first.”

At the breakfast, he will speak about his journey in Hollywood and how he has managed to balance faith, family and his work. While unique, his journey has relevance to all men who try to set and maintain the balance of priorities in life.

Tickets are $15 each or $120 for a table of nine. Purchase tickets online: at or call 604-943-8244.
