Outdoor movie nights in Tsawwassen return next month.

Outdoor movie nights are planned for back-to-back Saturdays next month.

The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen is hosting its first Starlight Spectacular on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Diefenbaker Park while the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall is holding an outdoor movie night and block party Saturday, Aug. 22.

Guardians of the Galaxy is on tap for the movie night at Diefenbaker Park while Cinderella - 2015, the non-animated Disney remake of the cartoon classic, will be shown at the mall.

The Rotary club has a carnival, beginning at 4 p.m., with "exciting new activities" planned in advance of the movie night that will available by donation. These include a giant slip 'n' slide, Euro bungee, bouncy castle, carnival games and more. Also available by donation will be popcorn, snow cones and a barbecue concession.

"The Business Improvement Association of Tsawwassen was the founder of the outdoor movie nights in our community and Rotary is pleased to now become host to one of the movie nights for this summer," said James Latheron, Rotarian and event chair.

Guests at the mall's movie night will be able to enjoy the numerous display and community booths with activities, handouts and information during the pre-show block party, which starts at 6:30 p.m. The TOOBs will be hosting a fundraising barbecue with smokies and hotdogs straight off the grill, as well as freshly popped popcorn, cotton candy, water and pop.

All proceeds will benefit the TOOBs local initiatives and the Ladner Girl Guides Association, who will be assisting with the event throughout the evening.

The Business Improvement Association of Tsawwassen has stepped away from hosting the annual summertime Outdoor Movie Nights series this year.
