Reach Child and Youth Development Society’s executive director Renie D’Aquila expressed heartfelt appreciation and thanks to board directors at its annual general meeting last week.
Reach Society 2017/18 board directors offer a wealth of experience to support children with special needs. Most directors have family members with developmental disabilities and know first-hand the challenges that must be addressed. Their dedication and leadership to build a future where children with needs are easily able to access help and fulfill their potential was evident at the Beach Grove Golf Club.
This year’s successes included the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) commendation survey finding that Reach is a leader in the field for its progressive attitude and drive to help educate the community; more than 1,000 children and youth were served by programs and 3,000 volunteer hours were logged.
The Reach Foundation’s Building for Children Together board directors, partners Corporation of Delta and Kinsmen Club of Ladner Tsawwassen, and supporters were congratulated as the new centre takes shape next to the Ladner Pioneer Library.
Only $300,000 of the $5.7 million goal remains to be raised before opening the doors to serve more children.
The Reach Foundation board is fortunate to welcome back committed directors Denis Horgan, Tom Siba, Agnes Douglas, Jeff Scott, Katherine Bamford, Valerie Bartlett, Ryan Thomas, Bob Mann, Ulf Ottho and Ryan Ormerod for another term.
