Sing of love in your 'safe place'

Have you ever noticed how busy people are while driving to work in the morning? I have seen men shaving, women applying eye make-up and children in the back seat making the most extraordinary faces as they pass by.

Have you ever noticed how busy people are while driving to work in the morning? I have seen men shaving, women applying eye make-up and children in the back seat making the most extraordinary faces as they pass by.

None make me smile, though, like those who "sing like no one is watching."

There is a freedom in our cars to simply be who we are - as vain or as complex as we wish. I wonder where societies of old found their "safe space?" Dare I ask the question: "What would Jesus do?" I guess Jesus'song-book would be the Psalms of the Hebrew Scriptures and his prayers would have been addressed to "Abba - Father."

Further to this, though, we read from Matthew's account, "Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them," This is what Jesus did.

He taught people about God's love, he proclaimed God's kingdom that would come if we followed his way and he cured those who were wounded and through it all he had compassion for the crowd around him.

This was Jesus'safe place... amongst the children of God. Perhaps the next time we are in our "safe place" we will sing our songs of God's love, fill our hearts with prayers of compassion to God who smiles upon us.
