Ladner's Rod Winning is staying close to home with the subject matter for his art show at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre.
The paintings included in the show, titled Surroundings, depict scenes from around South Delta, including old barns, Ladner Harbour, Burns Bog and the dike.
Winning says he likes the history and the magnificent scenery of the area.
Winning, who has a business background, only started painting in 2009.
"I'm enjoying it. That's one of the main things. It's not that I was looking for something to do. It just happened," he says.
Winning, now a member of the South Delta Artists Guild, says he enjoys creating something after starting off with just a blank page.
A gallery viewing reception is scheduled for next Thursday (Sept. 26) from 6 to 8 p.m. The show runs from now until Oct. 5 at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre, 1172-56th St.
