The fifth annual Jingle & Mingle community Christmas dinner in Ladner happens today.
Hosted and organized by Jeff, Shirley and TJ Brown, this year’s dinner will be in the hall at All Saints Anglican Church (4755 Arthur Dr.). Doors open at 3:30 and dinner is at 5 p.m.
“We continue to pay it forward and extend an invitation to all for this free Christmas dinner to folks who are looking for a place to go and connect with others,” said Jeff. “This event is a wonderful way to create a fun-loving space for people who are new to our community, people who are alone on Christmas Day and or people who want to share and connect with others.”
Besides the home-style Christmas dinner, there will be live music from Alex Whitaker, who was on hand last year, as well as an opportunity to socialize with others in the community. The Browns encourage people to come early to play cards or board games.
“This is event is truly in the spirit of community,” added Jeff. “In a world that is full of technology and we are all distracted all the time, how often do we get a chance to sit down and enjoy the company of the people in the community? If people want to come out and volunteer as well, serve some food and then sit down and meet with people, chat, play some board games and just connect with people, really this is what we are looking for.”
