The Tsawwassen United Church held Transformation for the first time last year. The second edition of the event takes place June 6 to 8.

Tsawwassen United Church will be hosting an art event early next month.

Transformation features an open submission gallery and speaker series.

"It's a way of celebrating local art and artists and getting the community pulled together around that," says Rev. Dan Kirkegaard.

He's encouraging local artists to take part and submit their work. "It's an open gallery," he says.

The church hosted the event last year and the idea is to have it run on an annual basis.

A speaker series takes place on the Saturday and will feature talks from Michael Duncan, a group from L'Arche Greater Vancouver and Sue Mosteller.

Those interested in learning about creating art can visit a studio area where artist Birgit Coath will be working with attendees.

Transformation goes from June 6 to 8 at Tsawwassen United Church, 695-53rd St.

Times are: 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Visit the church's website at www.tsawwassenunited.org, email [email protected] or call 604-943-2911 for more on the event.
