Tsawwassen events put focus on birds

Visual presentation and photography workshop take place this month

Two Birds in Focus events are coming up this month.

The first is a visual presentation at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre next Friday featuring the work of bird photographers Jess Findlay, John Lowman, Jim Martin and John Gordon.

"We should be able to see a whole variety of birds from all over B.C.," says nature photographer Ursula Easterbrook, who's been organizing the annual Birds in Focus for at least a decade.

Examples include great grey owl, northern hawk owl and others.

The visual presentation takes place from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. Admission costs $5. Registration is required. Contact [email protected] to register.

The second event will be a photography workshop on Sunday, March 23 at Boundary Bay Regional Park.

Participants will learn how to take good photos of birds, but also nature in general, says Easterbrook, who'll be leading the workshop. She will also go over the ethics involved in bird photography.

A practice session is also incorporated into the workshop. The workshop goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet at the Cammidge House. It costs $20 per person. Call 604-432-6359 to register.
