Fleming, who moved to Ladner with his family in the spring, created works of mixed media on paper for the show.

It "presents two derelict homes as catalysts for numerous narratives of tenants past," notes the gallery's website. "The two repeated structures act as windows revealing histories and personalities of previous occupiers now long gone."

Fleming came across one of the homes in Ireland and another in 100 Mile House.

"It wasn't necessarily about the locations the two houses were in, it was more about what effect they had as I came across them," he says.

Fleming, who recently spent four years living in Ireland, was born in Trinidad and grew up in Ontario. He has shown his work around Europe, Canada and Chile.

His Vacancy / No Vacancy show runs until Dec. 13. The gallery is at 2339 Granville St.
