Planning ahead.
It's a good idea for all families, but a critical one for Delta family caregivers dealing with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia.
And with the help of the non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C., it'll be a little easier.
The society offers a free workshop, Planning for the Future, on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 1: 30 to 3: 30 p.m.
"Starting to plan for the future as early as possible ensures that the person with dementia can play a role in making important health care and financial decisions," says Anthony Kupferschmidt, the society's regional support and education co-ordinator.
Family caregivers will review strategies for ensuring the wishes of the person with dementia are honoured now and in the future.
Seating is limited so pre-registration is required. To register or for more information, contact Kupferschmidt at 604238-7390 or anthonyk@ alzheimerbc.org.
The workshop takes place at Harold & Veronica Savage Centre for Supportive Care at Delta Hospice, 4631 Clarence Taylor Crescent in Ladner.
Cost of the workshop is by donation.
