Cadet training officer earns promotion to lieutenant

A member of the Cadet Instructors Cadre, Fortin will spend the next eight weeks leading the Basic Aviation Technology and Aerospace Course, where cadets learn about airports and aerodromes, aircraft maintenance and manufacturing, and aerospace studies.

Fortin is finishing up his second year as a Cadet Instructors Cadre officer and is dedicated to providing good leadership and a high standard of instruction to the Albert Head air cadets and Canadian cadet movement.

Fortin resides in Delta, where he parades throughout the year with the 828 Hurricane Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. Fortin is a master of applied science student at UBC, is perfectly bilingual and holds a glider and private pilot licence.

The cadet program is designed to contribute to the development and preparation of youth for the transition to adulthood, enabling them to meet the challenges of modern society through a dynamic, community-based program.

Canadian Forces Reserve Cadet Instructors Cadre officers are responsible for cadet training, supervision and administration. The vast majority of them serve the Canadian Forces on a parttime basis while continuing full-time studies or pursuing a civilian career.
