Ellen Hines' Party at the Oasis is featured at Gallery 1710's Deck the Halls show that runs until Dec. 18.

Christmas is a time for renewal, and the spirit has inspired our artists at Gallery 1710. In a world where chaos has taken root in some corners of the world, our artists invite you to take a break, bring a friend, and be inspired by “Deck the Walls”, our tribute to a caring and sharing Christmas season.

The joy of flowers (by Diane Akey, Myriam Leberge and others) will inspire some, while local birds, wild animals, and pets hold pride of place, captured by Margaret Atkinson and Enya Jorge. Dogs remind us of treasured pets (by Mary Ellen Bullock) and seem to follow their human friends in the paintings. Lea Price has entered two bird houses which are works of art.

Wit is often a reminder that we need to smile at life. Check out the camel by Ellen Hines. Gillian Olson has delightful scenes of animals with Christmas Spirit.

Lovely sweeping landscapes are sure to bring a smile to our viewers. Monica Burrow has many lovely pieces. Landscapes are pictures of familiar places in and around Delta, and Ann Hilton’s brush, never static, exhibits snowy winter. Other interpretations by Debra Renner, Denise Nichol, and a newcomer to our gallery, Dale Byhre, highlight the whole gallery. Seascapes (by Judy Hazel) are a perfect reminder of a beautiful summer that we so enjoyed this year.

The show is ongoing until Dec. 18th. We’re right beside the South Delta Recreation Centre, 1710 56th Street. Open Friday to Sunday, noon until 4 p.m. You might get a hint of what to get that friend or loved one on your list.
