The thrills and chills of Halloween will arrive early as Ladner hosts the fifth annual Family Fright Fest tomorrow.

The free event, a joint venture between the Corporation of Delta and several community partners, runs from 4: 30 to 7: 30 p.m. at a number of locations.

One of the main attractions is a spine-tingling haunted house. There is a Harry Potter theme this year as South Delta Secondary students are once again transforming the McKee Heritage House.

Admission to the haunted house is by donation.

Proceeds are going to the Equinox Theatre at SDSS.

Other spooky encounters can be had at the McKee Seniors' Recreation Centre where there will be "phantasmagorical trick or treat doors," crafts and stories from library staff.

The Wintemute Boys & Girls Club will have a Mad Scientist Lab set up with creepy games and activities. There will be face painting, balloon artist, cotton candy, popcorn, and more in the surrounding area.

The event is billed as appropriate for all ages, with signage to allow for detours of the scarier spectacles.

Delta's website notes 47th Avenue will be closed between Arthur Drive and 51st Street from 3 to 8 p.m. to ensure the safety of all participants and to accommodate street activities.

Additional tours through the haunted house will be held on Friday, Oct. 26 from 6: 30 to 8: 30 p.m.
