The South Delta Evergreen Garden Club welcomes Gordon Mackay to speak about dwarf conifers at its meeting next week in Ladner.
Dwarf conifers are hardy and versatile plants that provide year round colour and interest. Available in pyramidal, mounding and upright shapes and in various shades, they can be easily incorporated into a garden and are the backbone of rock gardens.
Mackay's passion for plants began with his exposure to the landscapes of Glasgow. His
formal training includes the renowned Threave School of Gardening and the Pershore College of Horticulture.
He is currently living in the Cowichan Valley where he established a specialty nursery, Alba Plants. He is part of the therapeutic horticulture team at Providence Farm and recently took up a position as a horticulture instructor at Camosun College.
Guests are welcome to attend the talk in Ladner at no charge. It is set for Tuesday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Kin House, 5050-47th Ave.
