The Delta Islanders were in a do or die situation last night against the New Westminster Salmonbellies.
The Islanders headed into the matchup, which was past the Optimist's press deadline, down 0-2 in their best-of-five B.C. Junior "A" Lacrosse League playoff series.
Delta dropped Game 2 at home on Saturday 6-4. The Islanders trailed 4-2 after two periods and then traded a pair of goals in the final frame.
Delta outshot New Westminster by a 47 to 36 margin. Mike Mallory had a hat trick for Delta and Logan Schuss added a single marker. Blake Duncan made 30 saves for the Islanders.
If the Islanders avoided elimination yesterday, Game 4 would be scheduled for tonight at 8 p.m. at Ladner Arena. Check www. delta-optimist.com for an update.
