Legion support found throughout community

Specialized wheelchair donated to Delta Hospital

The Tsawwassen Legion carries on its support for Delta Hospital with its latest donation, a Stellar tilt wheelchair worth over $7,200.

The wheelchair, originally donated to the Tsawwassen Legion by Karen (Burdie) Burden, was presented to Maria Rosenthal-Boothby, occupational therapist at the hospital's Mountain View Manor.

Legion members Bob Wilkinson and Terry Nylander were pleased to give the chair to the residents of Delta Hospital's extended care unit as the highly customized chair will make socializing easier.

Rosenthal-Boothby demonstrated how the chair keeps the residents safe, comfortable and mobile, ensuring their enjoyment.

The Tsawwassen Legion is well known for its tremendous community and charitable support.

"Throughout their support of our hospital, the Legion's generosity has allowed for the newest equipment to provide the best health care in Delta," said Delta Hospital Foundation executive director Teresa Cooper. "This chair will really make a difference in the lives of our Mountain View Manor residents - they will now be able to be mobile while still comfortable."

The hospital foundation raises funds so Deltans have access to the best medical services close to home. Since 1988, the foundation has raised over $22 million.
