It has been eight years since young readers have been transported to the Magnificent World. Now they get their chance to return.

Delta author Ashley Spires will be on hand at Black Bond Books in Ladner Village this Saturday, Sept. 10 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. where you can meet the author, buy and get your copy signed of her new book The Most Magnificent Idea.

“Following the wonderful reception of my book, The Most Magnificent Thing back in 2014, my publisher, Kids Can Press, asked if I would ever consider doing a follow up book,” said Spires. “The first book came from my own struggles with the creative process and the frustration that arises when you can’t make something just right, so I took a bit of time and tried to envision what a sequel to the girl’s creative journey would look like.

“I thought about it and thought about it and came up with…nothing. I had no idea what my character and her trusty canine assistant could do in a second book. Then I realized that, once again, my creative journey, or in this case, my creative block, was my characters journey too.”

Spires said she created The Most Magnificent Idea for all the kids (and creative adults) who have ever thought, ‘I don’t know what to do/make/write/draw.’ This book explores the other side of the creative process and what to do on the days when inspiration is in short supply.

“It was such a joy to reconnect with this character and her world after eight years,” she added. “I’m so excited to get to play in her world some as I get started on the next book in the Magnificent series and as I work with Nelvana as they work to develop the Magnificent books into an animated television series.”
