Museum outreach exhibit

In our fast-paced world, we often focus on getting where we need to go as quickly and comfortably as possible rather than on how our transportation system allows us to move around our expansive province.

In our fast-paced world, we often focus on getting where we need to go as quickly and comfortably as possible rather than on how our transportation system allows us to move around our expansive province.

The dilemma is how do we strike a balance between new developments yet maintaining the integrity of our community?

The Delta Museum and Archives Society presents its newest outreach exhibit, Community in Transit - Transportation through the Ages, which takes visitors on a trip back through time to show how transportation in Delta has changed.

By exploring Delta's history of various water, rail and road routes through archival photographs, maps and museum artifacts, we can learn about the region's rich transportation history, observe how challenging it was to get around in Delta's pioneer days and how all of these developments have shaped both the landscape and the fabric of the community today.

Many of the historical issues also translate to present day concerns that affect our everyday lives. Museum officials hope the exhibit will encourage conversation and questions.

It will be on display at the Ladner Pioneer Library until Aug. 31.
