Dozens of artists and art lovers filled the South Delta Arts Guild Gallery on June 6 to celebrate the annual juried fundraising art show Oil and Water with a night of art and music.
A baroque violin duo complemented the eclectic and classical collection of 100 paintings by artists chosen from all over B.C. at Gallery 1710 in Tsawwassen.
On display until June 23, there is a painting for everyone this year at this incredible annual art show.
Professional painter Deborah Tilby, who holds the status of Oil Painters of America Master, Manager Chakara Brown at the established White Rock Gallery, and Leanne Christie, the popular urban painter whose work is available through the Vancouver Art Gallery, reviewed the more than 300 submissions to make the final choices for the show. Local and well-established artist Micheal Abrahams was also on hand to sponsor an award for Creativity and Visual Exploration.
With an added twist this year, a new category City Favourites honouring three additional paintings from city officials was included to represent the City of Delta.
First-time jurors Delta Police Chief Neil Dubord, Delta Fire Chief Guy McKintuck and Coun. Dylan Kruger each chose their favourite painting to be highlighted throughout the show.
Top honours went to Reha Sakar for Sunrise, Drew Keilback for Tree of Life and Cara Bain for Emerge.
All paintings in the show, including the winners are available for purchase.
Gallery 1710 is open from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and Friday from noon to 8. The gallery is located at 1710, 56th Street in Tsawwassen.
