The Band of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment and the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir are getting together for a concert in Tsawwassen on Remembrance Day.

With Glowing Hearts: Songs of Remembrance will feature music from the era surrounding the First World War, says Jim Tempest, director of music for the regiment band.

He holds the same position with the Delta Concert Band, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with a special concert in Ladner.

Tempest, who is in his 30th year with the Canadian Forces, notes this year marks the centenary of the start of the Great War and the music of the era has provided a theme for the concert.

The choir and band will each present solo segments and the concert will culminate with both groups performing together, he adds.

Between the band, which is based in Vancouver, and choir there will be approximately 120 performers taking part.

Part of the show will be a solemn recognition of all the men and women who’ve given their lives, Tempest says.

The groups will perform Tuesday, Nov. 11 at South Delta Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $27 for adults, $24 for seniors and $10 for students. Tickets are available from merchants throughout Tsawwassen or from the choir’s website — www.vwmc.ca.

The groups also have another concert performance scheduled for Friday, Nov. 7, at Gateway Theatre in Richmond at 7:30 p.m.
