After a successful run of musicals, Delta Secondary School Theatre Company revives the dramatic play with A. R. Gurney’s, The Dining Room.

The two-act play is an often-humorous presentation of 18 scenes, each staged around a dining room table, combining multiple eras and unique circumstances. The ensemble of students will display their talent for the craft of acting and show their skill portraying a broad range of characters and perspectives throughout the play.

Twenty-three actors have been impressively rehearsing and have committed to developing each character they portray and how that character confronts conflict and change under these dramatic scenes.

The DSS stagecraft crew has done a wonderful job contributing their technical and design skills to add detail and beauty to each of the scenes.

Long-time professional theatre technician Alex Dinwoodie has continued to mentor his talented students and Elaine Collins is the skillful costume designer and the front of house manager. Be sure to keep your eye out for some DSS faculty acting cameos in each of the performances.

The Dining Room will have a run from Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13 and then the following week, from Thursday, April 18 through to Saturday, April 20, with curtain at 7 p.m.

There will be a Dinner Theatre benefit performance on Thursday, April 18, in partnership with the DSS Culinary Scholarship with a limited number of seats available for a Thanksgiving style feast that includes mocktails at 5:30, dinner at 6 and then the performance at 7 p.m.

All tickets for all performances are available online at: genesis-theatre.tickit.ca.

The play will run approximately two hours with a brief intermission. The play is recommended for a PG 13 audience.
