Director Tara Pay says the goal at Tiny Tales Pony Rescue is to rehabilitate, adopt out and re-home ponies.

An upcoming women’s expo and bridal fair will benefit a local pony rescue.

Tiny Tales Pony Rescue Society is teaming up with La Gioia Events to put on Fairy Tales Women’s Expo and Bridal Fair next month at Harris Barn in Ladner.

Tiny Tales incurs large bills through rehabilitating ponies, thus the need to do fundraising, notes director Tara Pay.

“Our ultimate goal is to rehabilitate them, adopt them out and re-home them,” she says.

She points out one recent surgery cost over $1,600.

Ponies come in to the Ladner-based Tiny Tales through word of mouth, people contacting the group through Facebook and, in the case of a current rescue, through the SPCA, notes Pay.

The rescue started out in 2012 and became a registered charity last April, says Pay. Her mom Marilyn and three other board members are involved as well, she notes.

In the last couple years they’ve been able to adopt out about five ponies.

The rescue has started to take in full-grown horses too, says Pay.

The upcoming women’s expo and bridal fair will include a horse and carriage that will be available for rides, a main stage and runway fashion shows.

An event planner has volunteered her time to work on the fundraiser, she adds.

“It’s not typically something we know a lot about but having an event planner help, we were able to take that on.”

Fairy Tales Women’s Expo and Bridal Fair is set for Sunday, March 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Harris Barn, 4140 Arthur Dr., Ladner. Admission costs $5.
